Greetings to you. I came across your music while browsing iTunes for a song to dance to with my father at my wedding. I burst into tears, exclaiming to my fiancee after a long search that "this is the one!" Anyhow, he looked at the name Kendall Payne, recognized it from Lilith Fair and then promptly rain upstairs and grabbed his autographed copy of "Jordan's Sister." Apparently he has seen you twice and met you both times. He didn't even realize you had a new album out and had wondered if you were still performing, thining you had left the industry. Anyhow, amazing how life comes full circle. Then I laughed when I looked at the iTunes recomendation of "Listeners also bought..." because it included Over the Rhine's "Drunkard's Prayer" which has the song we are dancing to as a couple on it. Eerie. Thanks again.

so um like I remember when your first cd came out and I so loved it. I saw you with Third Day I believe....of course that was a long time ago.....I was sitting in the bedroom with my husband making him watch Greys Anatomy when I heard a familiar voice.....I jumped up and said "That sounds like Kendall Payne!!" My husband was like who? I ran to our IMac and looked you up and it was you! I was so excited....so I bought your paper skin album and LOVE it! I love to see you in concert again. Hi there, this is a great site, I just logged on after seeing some of your videos on Youtube! I also learned about the existence of 'Paper Skin'-when will it be available in the UK?
I read the Wikipedia entry, and it mentioned a few songs you have on soundtaracks, but there seems to be one missing, unless it's my imagination. Am I right in thinking yu had a song included in the film 'Election'? I have looked, but can't find any mention of this anywhere.
I would also like to say that you have some incredible gifts in your songs. you are a great singer and musician, but I think your gretest gift is as a writer. I remember seeing you at Greenbelt just after 'Grown' was released, and you said that you discovered you wrote songs because you couldn't not write songs. I just wanted to let you know, ever since I saw you on tour with Thirda Day and Lincoln Brewster, I have truly cherished the Cd, and poster I got that night. I believe it's been atleast since 2001 or 2002 I don't remember. Your music is really soulfull and true. You touch deep into things no one could begin to sing about unless they had faced hardships and really tough times. "Jordan's Sister" has gotten me through many hard times. Many,many years ago - I heard a cd called jordan's sister - by kendall payne. It was nearly Nr. 1 that year in my store in Switzerland. Just fantastic songs.

I recently re-discovered your music via Jordans sister which I originally bought for the song "Supermodels" from the TV show Popular, I can't beleive it's taken me over 10 years to recognize how great you really are. What I love most about the album is how it touches people on so many levels and the strong Christian undertones. I just wanted to say that I heard the song "I will show you love" on Grey's Anatomy and found it beautiful and haunting.
I don't know the artist's intentions or if there was a deliberate message in the lyrics. I've heard people's interpretations in their posts here but I would rather not know. I view the relationship between musician and audience much like the relationship between writer and reader. That is, in my mind, these two people create the experience together. The listener takes the music and it speaks to her through her own personal experiences and she interprets it through her own lens.
For me, when I hear this song, I think of a love song, not necessarily a religious song. I understand there are strong religious overtones but I think the song is about something broader such as a deep love and I am lucky enough to say that I have experienced examples of that in the corporeal world.
PS.
Laura- I like how your faith tells you not to judge others and here you are going on about how "Grey's Anatomy" is immoral. If that's what you feel about the show then you likely think something similar about the people involved with the show: the writers, the actors, and the viewers. It's this sort of hypocrisy and un-Christian behavior that clouds your message.
